Connect with Peers, Advisors, and Current Students!
New Student Registration is where your journey in Grainger College of Engineering begins. You'll connect with fellow incoming students, current students, meet with an Academic Advisor, and register for your fall semester classes. New Student Registration is required for all new incoming first-year and transfer students.
How to Sign Up
To sign up for New Student Registration, login to your Admitted Student Checklist in myIllini (https://myillini.illinois.edu/) and select from the available dates. If you have conflicts with all of the available date options, you must submit a conflict request form in myIllini. Date options are limited and students are strongly encouraged to select the earliest available date as soon as possible.
When
View all date options in myIllini. If you are not available for any of the open slots, submit a conflict request form in myIllini. Transfer student New Student Registration days may take place from late May through early June. First-year student New Student Registration days may take place from early June through early July.
Where
Students living within a 500 mile radius of campus are expected to travel to campus to complete New Student Registration in-person. Their day will begin at 9:00am and conclude by 5:00pm. If you live within a 500 mile radius of campus but cannot join in-person, submit a conflict request form in myIllini.
Students living outside of a 500 mile radius may complete New Student Registration online. Their day may begin as early as 6:00am or as late as 11:30pm in their local time zone. They will receive a personalized agenda with exact meeting times 4 days in advance of their selected date through email.
After You Sign Up
Students must complete the New Student Worksheet and all required placement tests at least 2 weeks before their selected New Student Registration date. The New Student Worksheet and placement tests are accessible through myIllini. To view what placement tests you are required to take, visit the Placement Testing website (https://citl.illinois.edu/citl-101/measurement-evaluation/placement-proficiency/placement-testing).
First-year students that have taken college-level coursework from other institution(s) and wish to transfer credit to the University of Illinois must have their official transcript(s) sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. More information is available at the Office of the Registrar's website (https://registrar.illinois.edu/academic-records/trans-credit/)
Transfer students with courses that need to be reviewed for potential transfer credit will be contacted by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to submit copies of their syllabi and any other course materials.
Attending New Student Registration
Students attending New Student Registration in-person should refer to the confirmation email they received from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for information about arriving to campus and a general agenda. Students attending New Student Registration online should refer to the email they received from Grainger First-Year Experience with their personalized agenda.
After You Complete New Student Registration
Students will be contacted through their Illinois email address for important announcements as the start of the semester gets closer.
